Man is a creature of dual psychic nature. He obviously has only one MIND but he does have TWO SIMULTANEOUSLY OPERATING JUDGMENTAL SYSTEMS using separate languages. I call them ANALOGOS & LOGOS. Analogos uses the language of SENSATION while LOGOS uses the language of CONCEPTION (models) and SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATION. They each present their judgments "onto" MIND using their own language. Their languages and the nature of their operations are different and so cannot meld into one. Their difference results in the presence of two simultaneously operating ONTOIC & EPISTEMOIC SYSTEMS. Only MAN has a second judgmental system (note judge-mental) to any significant degree. The two judgmental systems result in the production of phenomena of two very different types, as if from two separate phenomenal worlds. Analogos creates the world of ACTUALITY while LOGOS creates the world of REALITY.
ANALOGOS creates the world of ACTUALITY, the ontic-epistemic system having the experiential phenomena of BEING & KNOWLEDGE.
There are two modes of BEING, PHYSICAL BEING & METAPHYSICAL BEING.
LOGOS creates the world of REALITY, ontological-epistemological system having the experiential phenomena of EXISTENCE & UNDERSTANDING.
Man, by virtue of Analogos & Logos, lives simultaneously in two worlds at once. Analogos and Logos are in fact parallel worlds comprised of the immiscible and disparate judgments of Analogos & Logos. Their judgments are presented in the language of each: the judgments of Analogos are presented in the language of SENSATION (which includes all sensations-emotions-feelings-sensory images). The judgments of Logos are presented in the language of CONCEPTION or SYMBOLIC LANGUAGE. These are representational languages.
What can tie the judgments of Analogos and the judgments of Logos together. Clearly there is some relationship between the two. But, since each can and does arrive at its own conclusions or judgment, we have the possibilities that the judgments will be separate but have the same meaning or separate and have different meanings. In the case of the former we experience internal harmony and unrestrained action. But in the case of different judgments, we now have INTERNAL CONFLICT. Since both judgmental systems have only one body to influence, conflict can become very serious, interfering with and even paralyzing action. What ties Analogos and Logos judgments together is MEANING. Although the languages are different, it is their MEANING that determines their significance. The languages are different; the language statements are always different. But the MEANING of the language statements and the judgments which they convey are what relate them!
If the meaning of the judgments are thought of as the propositions, then even though the judgments of Analogos are presented in Sensations and the judgments of Logos are presented in Conception/Symbols, if their propositions are the same, the judgments are concordant. If the propositions are different, then the judgments are discordant. Concordant judgments lead to internal harmony or consonance; discordant judgments cause disharmony or dissonance.

The judgmental system of Analogos is comprised of the Brain Stem (Reptilian Brain), Limbic System (Paleomammalian Brain), the Right Side of the Cerebral Neocortex (Neomammalian Brain), and most of the nonverbal portions of the Left Side of the Neocortex.
The judgmental system of Logos is comprised of the Left Side of the Cerebral Neocortex (largely the verbal areas and frontal area called the Neomammalian Brain.
The languages of the analog systems are all so similar that they are able to synthesize or meld. In other words, terror or strong fear of the Reptilian Brain/Mind encompasses and enfolds the emotion of fear arising from the Limbic System. Fear or strong anxiety of the Paleomammalian Brain/Mind overcomes shyness, reticence, coquettishness, loss of face, embarrassments and other delicate fears of the cerebral analog cortex. These three languages are all based on the fundamental phenomenon of SENSATION and therefore have a certain miscibility. They seem to "dissolve" into or are dissolved by one another. However, the digital system of symbolic intellect is symbolic and linear, sequential, or ratiocinative. It is so different and disparate from the languages of SENSATION, that it cannot meld. It therefore stands alone as a distinct judgmental system seemingly separate from Analogos, operating on its own, creating its own judgments and presenting them onto MIND in its own language.
Thus we have the possibility for internal harmony when the judgments of Analogos and Logos agree or at least do not conflict or the possibility for internal conflict when they do differ. Depending on the POWER (degree of cathexis or the amount of psychic energy) associated with any judgment, the battle for dominance is proportional.
The key to this understanding of one's own brain-mind is to realize that we do have two judgmental systems, that they do make separate judgments in different languages, that they can agree or conflict. But one must have both systems available to him to make truly enlightened judgments. One must avoid being a half-wit who uses only one half of his brain-mind. In addition, one must study them and realize that by virtue of the nature of their operations, they are good for different tasks. They must be used appropriately for the correct tasks. One chooses his mate using Analogos and solves a math problem using Logos, for example.
The discovery of man's dual psychic nature occurred many, many centuries ago. It has been discovered, rediscovered and re-rediscovered many times in history. Each man who rediscovered it discoursed about it in his own language. Most failed to recognize that many before them had discovered it because they failed to understand the nature of language. Language performs its role in realizing, understanding, remembering, and conveying experiential phenomena. They did not fully realize that LANGUAGE, the tool of understanding, is a living thing in the world of REALITY. Languages are born, they grow, they give birth, they live, thrive but eventually wither and die. Old language (and ancient writings therefore) fail to adequately convey the knowledge it once more clearly represented. Modern man, through philosophy, must reinterpret experience and translate it into modern language so people today can understand, in today's language, what people of old did in terms of mythological and allegorical language.
Language is the tool of intellect or Logos, and of course, the tool of the philosopher in trying to create a clear understanding. He creates language systems which will adequately couch, convey and represent sensational, phenomenal experience. And, as MAN'S PHYSICAL tools have evolved over the centuries from the crude stick and club to the magnificent machines and instruments of today, so MAN'S METAPHYSICAL TOOLS have evolved. Today the metaphysical tool of understanding, symbolic language, has exploded, proliferated and developed into so many representational symbolic language systems that we have one for almost every facet of experience. We have math, chemistry, physics, biology, geology, economics, sociology, computer science, medicine, law, etc. etc. Each of these is extremely useful in understanding some aspect of experience. All of these are products of intellectual Logos operation. All of these have their attendant CONCEPTUAL PARADIGMS by means of which we can TALK ABOUT, UNDERSTAND, REMEMBER AND MANIPULATE THE WORLD. For survival and expediency are their goal and modus operandi.
