NOTE: THE LETTER "S" AND THE TERM "WORD" COMBINE TO FORM THE TERM "SWORD". S-word.
This is another example of synthesis where a word is formed by shortening two other words and combining them. But in this case, the letter "S" is from some uncertain term. Yet it converts the term "WORD" which refers to talk, a gentle kind of action, into 'SWORD', a term referring to an instrument used instead of words, instead of talk, instead of intellectualizations. It is the hard cutting steel of a swinging SWORD which stands in contrast to the seemingly gentler use of the metaphysical tool.
What does the "S" derive from? S + WORD = SWORD
Do words penetrate? Do words slay? Do words cut, break and shatter all of being into worlds? Where there was one world and oneness because of the 'at onceness' of intuitive judgments, are there not now many worlds, nay, in fact myriads of worlds? Have not languages with their attendant concepts not cut and fractionated the oneness of Man into many. Where there was once a religious language system called Christianity, are there not now over 256 protestant 'religions'? Is this shattering and divisiveness not due to words? And isn't Logos the instrument of the word, the rational principle of the universe, dividing it up into categories of understanding? And is not intellect the mother of language? Man lives is a metaphysical sea of language and concepts. Man is alive and floating in a sea of opinions and beliefs, each like a small life jacket used to keep him afloat, his nose barely jutting out of the sea of misunderstanding. Man sickened and bloated with concepts and ideas, each used expediently to get him his daily bread. Even bad ideas can have 'cash value'! Words can cut, slay, and lay open wounds. Words can destroy love, break marriages, destroy families. Words can separate life-long friends and cause schisms between parent and child, brother and sister and between God and Man. Words are dangerous phenomena, metaphysical magic, and can be the devil's tool. The language of God is silence!Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me. ----or so they say! And the devil laughs!A. Iosue
